Flavourful New Forest
BakeHouse 24
BakeHouse24, Lynes Ln, Ringwood BH24 1BT, United Kingdom £1.80
What is BH24?
BakeHouse24 specialises in traditional sourdough methods to produce fine quality pastries and cakes and they undoubtably taste rather banging (with an even tastier price range). After my dad highly recommended BH24, I did some further online research to find BakeHouse24 has loads of reviews and rating. Customers raved about some of the “all vegan and all beautiful” baked goodies as well as “amazing cinnamon buns!” so one simply had to go and check it out!
Where is Bakehouse 24?
Bakehosue 24 is situated down a little road just off of the main Ringwood Highstreet and offers indoor and outdoor seating (blankets are also available for the cold UK weather). Its super light and airy in the main café and provide an open plan arrangement, so you’re able to see the bakers and baristas do their thing, which I think is pretty cool.
When I last went in this super cute Bakehouse offered a bread making course however, I am unsure if this is still the case. Have a google and check it out for yourselves.
The bun
Now to talk about the bun… although it was bursting with flavour, BakeHouse24 cinnamon buns texture felt very much like a loaf of bread with cinnamon and icing-sugar put on top. Not to say this wasn’t tasty and fluffy, but when it comes to my buns, I like them very much soft on the outside and gooey (almost uncooked) in the inside = personal preference.
Besides the texture, the bun’s rather charming £1.80 price tag (although that may have gone up by now) made it a solid deal and the size was generous too—always a plus! Freshly baked each day, I could quite happily sit in this place with a coffee and their pastries on tap.
That said, the consistency of the bun was the same from the outside all the way to the middle. It was light and fluffy to squidge, had a slight rip sound when taring it, but mostly had a bread consistency – Fitting as they use traditional sourdough methods.
The Topping
The bakehouses topping for their cinnamon buns are what looked to be your normal icing sugar, one that you would put on top of a homemade cupcake, which does add and extra bite of sweetness to every bite. Like everything in my blog its a matter of opinion and in my opinion I much prefer a buttercream topping. This is not to say Bakehouse 24s bun wasn’t tasty, nor would I hesitate to try it again.
Yes, yes this blog is about cinnamon buns HOWEVER, it would be a crime not to mention BH24’s sensational sourdough loafs. Truly one of the best, if not my favourite sourdoughs I have ever had (and I eat a lot of bread…). There is so much being offered in this bakehouse from all sorts of bready goodness, pastries and goodies to a full-blown meal menu.

The Coast
Bournemouth Beach is a slice of the English seaside that combines natural beauty with a lively atmosphere. Stretching for miles along the Dorset coast, this beach offers golden sands and stunning views of the English Channel. On sunny days, the clear, blue-green water looks almost tropical, and you can enjoy a relaxing swim or just dip your toes in. The iconic Bournemouth Pier has arcades, restaurants, and even a zip line for the adventurous. You’ll find plenty of seaside cafés and spots to grab fish and chips or ice cream as you walk along the beach. The beach is spacious, perfect for setting up camp with family or friends, and lined with colourful beach huts that add to the charm. Whether you’re there for a casual day of sunbathing (if you’re lucky), a beachside picnic, or a bit of water sports, Bournemouth Beach captures the classic British seaside vibe with a touch of something special.

The Forest
The New Forest is like something out of a storybook, perfect for anyone wanting a proper English countryside escape. This huge stretch of ancient woodlands and heathlands in Hampshire is full of winding trails and hidden spots that feel like a total break from the real world. One of the best things? The wild ponies, donkeys, pigs and even deer that just casually wander around—sometimes right through the villages! There are loads of trails for walking or biking that take you past lakes, open fields, and quiet little glades. Stop by the charming villages like Lyndhurst, Ringwood or Brockenhurst, where you’ll find cozy pubs, tea rooms, and independent shops with local goodies. Whether you’re up for a chilled-out walk, a picnic with a view, or just soaking in the peaceful vibes, the New Forest is a lovely place that’s perfect for a laid-back day out. For visitors I would recommend “Moors Valley” which I believe has something for all ages, but not for the indoor type.
Alternatively you can check out “The New Forest Water Park” which is a lot of fun and a great activity during the day.
