What are you waiting for you Prat!

Wattson & Pratt’s

Unit 23 & 24 Ind Estate, Tregaron Rd, Lampeter SA48 8LT, United Kingdom

What is Wattson & Pratt’s?

Based in Lampeter, West Wales, Watson & Pratt’s is mostly an independent food shop/green grocer. But much to my excitement they have their own bakery, which creates undeniably fresh and delicious pastries… including a type of cinnamon, maple & pecan treat. The shop is situated in an industrial estate offering free parking and only outside seating (depending on weather). The exterior and interior of the shop is adorable and is your quintessential sweet UK green grocers set up – with a delightful little coffee shop inside to compliment the bakery section.

The bun

Coming in at a rather steep £4.50 (price could have changed) for a bun, I was expecting elite and god tier bunnage. It did not disappoint! Texture 10/10, with it being perfectly soft and pillowy, with a golden crust that gives way to a warm, gooey centre swirled with just the right amount of cinnamon spice.

Not even joking when I say every bite melted in my mouth and left this lingering taste of goodness in my mouth making me not want to eat anything for the rest of the day to keep it.  Twas a delicious balance of sweet and nutty (due to the pecan). My ONLY hesitation making it a 9/10 for taste is just how sweet it all was. This is for sure a bun I wouldn’t let my dentist know about.

Unfortunately, this roll is not sold all the time and I believe they are very hard to come by from the Wattson & Pratt’s stores, so if you’re ever in West Wales be sure to pop into a W & P’S and try your luck. If unsuccessful in getting a bun I’m sure there is another baked good in there to settle that sweet tooth.

I would have this again!

Wales

Walks & Hikes to do in Wales.

Wales is a dream for anyone who loves the outdoors, as it offers some of the UK’s most stunning landscapes and epic hikes. You’ve got Snowdonia up north, where you can hike Mount Snowdon, the highest peak in Wales, with views that, on a clear day, stretch all the way to Ireland. Worth checking the weather report as Wales is notoriously raining!

In the heart of The Brecon Beacons is Pen Y Fan, another beautiful hike with trails that can be challenging but most certainly worth the views. If you’re up for an early start I would recommend trying to get to the peak just before sunrise! The south of wales is also packed with waterfalls, rolling hills, and your classic cozy pubs to warm up in after a day of adventure.

The Coast

Cardigan Bay: Cardigan Bay is the place to be for water-sports! Kayaking and paddle-boarding are popular here, especially around the New Quay area, where you might see dolphins up close (Im yet to get that lucky). The calm bays and beautiful coastal scenery make it a fantastic spot for a relaxing day on the water.

Coasteering: Pembrokeshire is actually the birthplace of coasteering! You’ll find excellent coasteering experiences around St Davids and Abereiddy, with options to explore sea caves, cliff jumps, and natural rock formations. Back in the beginning of 2023 I used “stdavidsescapes” when going coasteering! They were brilliant! There are other guided tours available too, so do some research.

Surfing: Freshwater West and Newgale Beach are popular surf spots with consistent waves and surf schools for all levels. Freshwater West is also known for its rugged beauty and has some of the best waves in the UK, though it’s best suited for more experienced surfers. I have been lucky enough to enjoy Newgales waters, and highly would recommend this spot for some surfing! The campsite of which we stayed in was across the road, along with the surfboard rental shop, making it a really easy, fun couple of days surfing.

Travel

If my missions is to find the best cinnamon tasting thing in the world then surly i’ll need to venture away from the UK.
