CROSS STREET UNION
The Old Shop, Cross Street, Holt NR25 6HZ
NO.1 BUN!
This is and will continue to be my favourite cinnamon bun I have ever had. Although I am keen to get some recommendations that you guys might think will beat this one.
The gooeyness, the sweetness, the icing, the CINNAMON is spot on. I have been lucky enough to have a Cross Street Union bun multiple times and every time it’s safe to say… it is banging! I am yet to have a rubbish bun from Cross Street Union, so to the wonderful lady who makes them I would love the recipe, although I would butcher it.
Where is Cross Street Union?
The coffee is exceptional & the buns made by cross street bakery are elite. A perfect location to nestle yourself into on a rainy day or to grab a takeaway coffee AND TAKE AWAY BUN to roam the charming rural north Norfolk town of Holt. You will be able to find the coffee shop on a little road just off the main Holt highstreet.
Cross Street Union itself is a seriously adorable, tiny café with about 4 seats inside and occasionally 4 stools outside, when the weather is nice. You can find parking opposite and or on the roads leading up to the cafe, if you’re lucky to find a spot however, paid parking is dotted around Holt.
The bun
The outer layer of the cinnamon bun is soft and pillowy, gently springing back like a memory foam cushion with every touch. As you begin to unravel the delicate swirls, the texture subtly transforms. The further you venture towards the center, the more doughy, gooey, and indulgently sticky it becomes, offering a delightful contrast. All the while, the perfect amount of cinnamon weaves through each bite, releasing a warm, mouthwatering aroma that lingers and makes each moment even more irresistible. My favourite part of any cinnamon bun is the middle nugget. All that flavour as well as the stodgy dough combined is elite and Cross Street Union pull it off every-time.
I would have this again!

North Norfolk
Things to do in Norfolk
North Norfolk is a perfect coastal escape with loads to see and do. The beaches are amazing—big, sandy stretches like Holkham where you can walk for ages, and if you’re lucky, spot some seals hanging out on the shore. Blakeney Point is another great spot, especially if you’re into birdwatching or just want to catch a glimpse of the local seal colony. (There are loads November time)
The little villages around here are super cute. Cromer and Holt are packed with indie shops, art galleries, and cozy pubs. For a bit of history, you’ve got Holkham Hall and the Sandringham Estate nearby, both worth a wander. And Wells-next-the-Sea is a must—think colourful beach huts, a harbour perfect for crabbing, and fresh seafood stalls right on the water. You can even hop on the North Norfolk Railway, or “Poppy Line,” and take a scenic steam train ride along the coast.
Whether you’re here for beach walks, a bit of wildlife, or just some seriously good fish and chips, North Norfolk is a great spot for a wholesome and quiet get away!
