TURKS & CAICOS
Where is Turks and Caicos?
Turks & Caicos is an extensive group of around 40 low-lying coral islands in the Atlantic Ocean and is a British Overseas Territory, southeast of the Bahamas. It is truly a gorgeous place with white sand beaches, crystal clear waters and 30 degree heat all year round and exceptional snorkeling! Flights from London are roughly £500/£700 out of school holiday dates and if you’re savy when it come to looking for flights.
As I had a couple of cinnamon esc treats in Turks I though it would be best to pop them into one post …

102 LEEWARD HWY, VENETIAN ROAD SETTLEMENT TKCA 1ZZ, TURKS & CAICOS ISLANDS
For a budget-friendly supermarket find, this cinnamon roll is surprisingly good once heated. The outer layer gets a light crisp while the inside stays soft and slightly chewy. Warming it up really brings out the cinnamon flavour, making it taste fresh and comforting, although they could have been imported frozen. It’s not fancy, but it’s enjoyable, big and delivers exactly what you’d want from a quick, no-fuss treat.
Once you take a bite, the texture is soft with a slight chew, giving just enough resistance to feel satisfying without being tough. The outer layer had a crispness, while the inside is smooth and light, which to be honest was impressive for a supermarket bakery. As you chew, the cinnamon and sweetness blend together nicely, although the lack of icing sugar/buttercream definitely brought the flavours down. It’s not overly doughy or dense—just simple and easy to enjoy.

Grace Bay TKCA 1ZZ, Turks & Caicos Islands
I found this tiny island bakery, and they’re out here making cinnamon rolls that could double as a steering wheel. Seriously, I’ve never seen a cinnamon roll this big before and I am yet to see this one be beat—it’s a cinnamon roll on steroids.
Just off of the main highstreet of Grace-bay, sits the rather lovely Tribe cafe offering loads of partially covered seating as well as complete outdoor seating, where you can truly relax in the sun living your best Caribbean life.
The outside? This cinnamon roll is a showstopper for its size, the outside, with its perfectly defined swirl was golden, and more like a flaky pastry than your typical bun. The outer layer crackles and flakes as you pull it apart, with a hint of cinnamon spice and just a smidge of sweetness. Each bite starts with a crunchy, buttery exterior that melts into softer, chewier layers toward the center. It’s a tad on the dry side, but not enough to put you off completely; instead, it just makes you appreciate the flaky, pastry-like texture—especially with a coffee to help it down. As you dig into the center, the flavours of caramelised sugar and warm cinnamon spice are richer and even heightened. Though it remains flakier and drier than your usual cinnamon bun, concluding it looked better than it tasted. But hey, if you’re hungry enough to tackle this monster, it’s a solid meal. Cinnamon roll + workout in one!

More about Turks and Caicos
What is there to do in Turks and Caicos?
Turks and Caicos, famous for its breathtaking beaches and clear, turquoise waters hence why you’ll catch people such as the Kardashians and Drake enjoying the crystal waters. Grace Bay Beach is the star attraction, consistently ranked among the best beaches in the world, with soft white sand and ideal conditions for swimming, snorkeling, and water sports.
If you’re looking for something a little bit different than lounging in the sun or snorkelling, in the Grace Bay town there is plenty of shops, cute cafes and just off the highstreet sits “popcake place K9 rescue”. Popcake is a dog rescue charity whereby you effectively “rent” a puppy for the day. Monday to Saturday from 10am to 12:30pm you can take a puppy for a walk and a dip in the sea (if they like it). Its good to get there just before 10am as he process is first-come, first-served. I have done this experience a couple of times and there is always a queue.
